Gillian, what a great post! I was totally cracking during the yogurt/ sour cream debacle :D but the last part about your bunkmate is my favorite. It's beautiful-- and it's interesting to think about speech as a foreign form of communication. What type of redefinitions will occur for you? Can't wait for more!

Hey Gillian-
I have been thoroughly enjoying the updates you've been sending from abroad- looking on with a mix of awe and envy. You must be having the time of your life! I wish I could be crammed in your suitcase for the journey, but I suppose the blog and Facebook will just have to suffice.

That said, I am so sorry to hear about the accident that left your pretty lady in poor repair. I had a similar crisis when I was about 11 or 12 and my harp was knocked over by a clumsy kid at a school concert. The sounding board split wide open along the right hand seam. I was absolutely crushed, so I can identify with the feelings of loss you must be experiencing. But I hope that she can be repaired- mine was able to be fixed and I daresay she sounded even better after the fix than before, so there is hope. As with all great relationships, change is inevitable, and hopefully this will turn out to be a positive one.

Can't wait to read your next dispatch, and thanks for sharing!

Hi Gillian,
Looks like you're really seeing the world these days, and they are seeing you, too!
When do you return to the US?
Studio LuLoo is having a Live CD party on January 23rd, and we are thinking of you.
I am assuming you're still in Europe then, though, right?

More or less direct translation:

This woman is really "Mega-class" – the combination of filigree-played harp with a voice that compares with world-class stars, and a selection of titles, that leaves every listeners astonished with their mouths open – Music to meditate on in its beauty and/or also emotional and sensitive thoughts. Brilliant. Thanks!
